A Town of Cochrane staff member is following recommended measures after exhibiting potential COVID-19 symptoms. The individual self-identified, has voluntarily self-isolated, and reported their symptoms to Alberta HealthLink. They are awaiting further direction on testing.

Even though the risk level in Cochrane remains low and day-to-day Town operations are running as usual, the Town has enacted the Municipal Emergency Management Plan (MEMP). The plan allows officials to take proactive measures to help protect the community and Town staff, and to coordinate responses and communications.

“The current health and safety concerns around COVID-19 are creating a great deal of uncertainty and anxiety for everyone,” said Mayor Jeff Genung.

“The health and well-being of the community is our top priority. We are being intentionally cautious, and I want to thank residents, businesses and Town staff for their continued cooperation and diligence during this dynamic time.”

The Town is following recommendations made by Alberta Health Services and has coordinated activity with their regional emergency management agencies.

The Town is posting updates on cochrane.ca/Covid-19 as the situation evolves.
