Calling all elves: Cochrane’s annual Christmas celebration needs your help.

Cochrane Light Up has been kicking off the holidays in town for more than 30 years. This season, organizer Marni Fedeyko said the volunteer-run event is so far missing the people power it needs for the yuletide affair to run smoothly.

“We need quite a few people,” said Fedeyko. “We need lots of people to step up.”

Between 90 and 100 volunteers are required to help throughout the day and evening on Nov. 19 to direct traffic, run supplies, assist at hayrides, work at the children’s tent, set up and take down, among other tasks.

Fedeyko said volunteer shifts are only a couple of hours long to give visitors time to enjoy the festivities as well.

“We understand people want to go to the event,” she said.

As many as 15,000 people are expected to attend Cochrane Light Up 2016, which takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. along Main Street in Historic Downtown.
