Special to the Eagle

The members of Cochrane Music Society are celebrating our 20th anniversary!

We have held so many concerts, Big Band Dances, and Jazz Nights. We have performed with exceptional success at band and choir festivals, Mitford Park Canada Day Celebration and private functions. We have sung on Town of Cochrane hay rides. We have frozen our instruments playing outside at Christmas at Heritage Park and our voices (and fingers and toes) singing at Cochrane Light Up. We have played under tarps in the rain (twice!) at Movie Night Under the Stars, and entertained in the sunshine at Cochrane Art Walk.

We have learned and laughed and loved music for 20 years!

On Saturday, May 11 at 3:00 p.m, the Cochrane Music Society will honour this milestone with our 20th Anniversary Celebration Concert at the Bow Valley Baptist Church where we will premiere a special composition created for all three ensembles by former Bow Valley High School student, Andrew Ball.

Following the concert, we will continue the party at the Lions Club Event Centre with cocktails and entertainment by our Alumni Jazz Combo, then a delicious banquet and a dance DJ’d by our own DJ “Strait Sound”!

So many people have been part of the Cochrane Music Society – each contributing to the ongoing success of the organization! All current and past members, and everyone from Cochrane and the surrounding area, are invited to join us in celebrating the successful continuation of this society that is devoted to educating and enhancing the enjoyment of the arts for members and the community.
