Organizers of last weekend’s Culture Days event are celebrating it as a success, and are already looking ahead to how they can top it next year.

“Cochrane should be proud of themselves for celebrating our culture and our arts in the community,” said Arts and Culture Foundation of Cochrane volunteer Michelle Boudreau. “People that took the time to be with artists in the different venues – that’s remarkable.”

Sculptors, painters, musicians and more showed off their talents during the annual arts and culture showcase, which took place over four days. Ruth Soroka, ACFC president, said this was the largest event to date with more than a dozen venues and many artists participating.

Boudreau said some of the most well-attended stops included the Studio West Bronze Art Gallery Foundry Tour, a slate of performances at Deja Brew, dancing demonstrations and youth painting at Zero Gravity Skate Park. The Cochrane Art Club’s annual fall art show was also a success, raising $400 and collecting three large boxes of items for the Cochrane Food Bank.

The ACFC will discuss Culture Days and brainstorm for next year’s event at the foundation’s Annual General Meeting on Oct. 26. It begins at 7 p.m. at the Cochrane RancheHouse, and Boudreau said any members of the public with ideas to share are encouraged to attend.

“This is a great way to connect and grow with our arts and culture scene.”
