A group of small business owners in Cochrane are combining a fun evening of mini-facials, short massages and makeup applications with a more sombre message of community support.

“It’s the first time we’ve done something of this type,” said organizer Lisa Butler, a representative for Thirty One Gifts. “We decided we wanted to step it up a notch and give ladies in town a night out and try to benefit the community somehow.”

Butler’s Ladies’ Night for a Cause event takes place Nov. 5 at Frank Wills Memorial Hall from 7 p.m. to midnight, and will raise money for the Cochrane Urgent Care Centre.

“We tried to pick a place … that could potentially benefit anybody in town – something that people may eventually need and use,” Butler said.

The evening will begin with finger foods and two drinks, and each participant receives a swag bag filled with samples – all of which is included in the ticket price.

Butler said vendors, including Arbonne, Origami Owl, Scentsy, Brilliant Blooms, Epicure, Usborne Books and more, will set up around the room for women to “start some of their Christmas shopping.” There will also be a photo booth for small photo shoots.

Later, after cutting it up on the dance floor until midnight, parents from the King’s Own Calgary Regiment Royal Canadian Army Cadets in Cochrane will offer a service to drive ladies home in their own vehicles.

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at www.ladiesnightforacause.ca.
