Pumpkin carvers unite! The second annual Pumpkin Lantern Festival is looking for jack-o-lanterns to help light up the night on Oct. 28.

Last year, more than 150 businesses, students and families entered their ghoulish gourds into the Cochrane High School-led contest, which encourages people to get creative with their carvings for a chance to win up to $500 worth of prizes.

The pumpkins are then displayed outside the Cochrane RancheHouse during the festival, which begins at 6 p.m. on Oct. 28. Students will entertain crowds and baked goods and food trucks will be on hand for the hundreds of hungry Halloweeners expected to attend.

Youth under 18 can enter their pumpkins for $10, while adults and groups are $20. Entry forms are available at many of the town’s schools or by emailing [email protected].
