Organizers are busy finalizing details for the upcoming Film Festival and Wilderness, Wildlife and Human Interaction conference on March 5.

Tickets are already 60 per cent sold out and banquet ticket sales stop after Feb. 29.

The whole day event starts at 9 a.m. hosting 10 keynote speakers, a film festival, and an art exhibition throughout the morning and afternoon; and a banquet in the evening with entertainment from Canadian comedian Mike MacDonald and a silent auction.

The conference is being held by Cochrane Ecological Institute and Cochrane Wildlife Reserve Society, the local non-profit wildlife conservation, rescue, rehab and research institution, on March 5 at the Cochrane RancheHouse

“This is a unique meeting of some of the world’s most influential and informed wildlife conservationists and the theme of the conference is truly wilderness, wildlife and ‘human’ interaction,’ ” organizer Janet Munro explained in an email.

“We invite all people from all walks of life to put our heads together for new ideas on how to protect the future for all of us.”

Sponsors have donated a variety of silent auction items and door prizes, including a four-day trip on a Twin Anchors cruise craft for 15 people for 3-4 nights, and a three-day stay at Pine Bungalows in Jasper … to name a few.

Tickets for the morning and afternoon are $20, or $10 for either morning or afternoon. Banquet tickets are $100. For tickets, contact [email protected] or [email protected] or call the Happy Tails Pet Retreat at 403-851-2050.
