The Jake Hirsch Entertainment Group is returning to town with two dates full of world-class comedy.

John Beuhler and Brittany Lyseng will be performing on Aug. 28 at Townhall Public House, and on Sept. 2, Scott Dumas and Alan Cho will take to the stage at the Hideout Pub.

“This is part of a series of shows I run monthly in Cochrane,” Yuk Yuk’s promoter Jake Hirsch said. “These guys are rotating acts that I switch up.

“It’s great, we have a chance to bring some really good talent to Cochrane.”

So far, Hirsch has been putting on shows at Townhall for three months and at the Hideout for two.

With the exception of one show in the middle of summer, every event has been a sell-out and Hirsch is expecting the same this time around.

“I’ve always had incredible success with both these venues,” he said. “Ticket sales are going very well right now, I think we’ll have a solid turnout.

“The Hideout show is on the same weekend as the Cochrane Lions Rodeo, but I’ve got good faith that not everyone will be at the rodeo so, we will probably get some very good spillover for Friday night.”

With his latest lineup, the event is sure to bring out all types and not just diehard comedy enthusiasts.

Townhall headliner John Beuhler performed in the Just For Laughs Festival Gala and won the Corner Gas Comedy contest, receiving $10,000. He has also opened for comedy greats such as Dennis Miller, Joan Rivers, Martin Short, Zach Galifianakis and Craig Ferguson to name a few.

“John is a fantastic comedian,” Hirsch said. “Right now he’s working on getting into the U.S. market, so we’re lucky to have him.”

Dumas, who is headlining at the Hideout, is also another coup for Hirsch and provides a local connection, he resides in Canmore.

The headliner was a finalist in Alberta’s Search for Funniest New Comic in 1999, and has showcased for Just For Laughs in 2001, 2004, 2007 and 2010. Dumas, has worked with such accomplished comedians as Harland Williams, Tommy Chong, Judah Friedlander, Ari Shaffir and Gilbert Gottfried.

“He’s been with Yuk Yuk’s for years,” Hirsch said of Dumas. “I’ve finally been able to lock him down which is great, because a lot of guys only do corporates and don’t play clubs every week.

“So, it’s a real treat getting them off that circuit and into smaller clubs.”

Both shows start at 8 p.m., and tickets are $15.

For information on tickets, Hirsch can be contacted directly at [email protected].

Tickets can also be bought at the venues or reserved by calling Townhall at 587-362-3622, or the Hideout at 403-932-4441.
