LCARF grateful for volunteers who helped during 'watershed weekend'

Dear editor:

On behalf of the board of LCARF (Little Creeks and Rough Fescue Appreciation Society) I would like to express thanks to the volunteers who helped make our July 18-19 ‘watershed weekend’ event such a success.

We had many door prizes from several local businesses – Arrowhead Vet Services, Blackwell Hay Farms, Crystal Glass, Diamond Willow Fireplaces, Grand Avenue Pharmacy, John Deere and Sunshine Physiotherapy.

A great variety of items with the hay being most popular with the horse crowd.

The two events – a talk by forester Don James on the Aspen Parkland Biome followed by a barbecue on Friday and the horse-related topics discussed the next day – were attended by over 30 residents from the watershed and elsewhere.

Thank you all for your generous support, which puts us well on the way to funding a fisheries assessment this fall in the lower reaches of the Horse Creek.
