Left onto Hwy 22

Dear editor: I am responding to the article in last week’s Eagle relative to the proposed changes to Hwy 22 and the RancheHouse Road intersection.

Dear editor:

I am responding to the article in last week’s Eagle relative to the proposed changes to Hwy 22 and the RancheHouse Road intersection.

The Town of Cochrane wants to spend $678K to change the Hwy 22 and RancheHouse Road access to right in and right out only, or if this didn’t pass through council, the access would be closed permanently.

People are creatures of habit and will continue to turn left onto Hwy 22 as they always have, especially the young drivers from St. Timothy High School, because it is faster.

Can you imagine the chaos this will cause?

I think if residents of Cochrane had a say in this matter, they would agree to the closure of that access and put the $678K towards widening the Hwy 22 and IA highway intersection.

There have been mile-long lineups at that intersection for a long time now as the town grows.

Why not do something for the benefit of all of Cochrane, rather than for the few who might benefit from leaving the Hwy 22 and RancheHouse Road access open.

I think it is time town council put the interests of the people who elected them first when making decisions that will effect the entire town.

Judy Horst, Cochrane
