Money wasted when new pool needed

Dear editor: How does Cochrane compare to the surrounding region? When it comes to the desperately needed Aquatic Centre, a facility many people, not just young families, could really use, we are still in the Stone Age.

Dear editor:

How does Cochrane compare to the surrounding region?

When it comes to the desperately needed Aquatic Centre, a facility many people, not just young families, could really use, we are still in the Stone Age.

Thank goodness it's finally election time again, maybe we can select someone with 20/20 vision on what this big town can really benefit from this time, instead of minds still trapped in the ‘80s with small-town mentality, still desperately clinging to an imaginary sense of that long-since gone small-town feel.

How many more traffic lights, houses and large buildings for businesses have to go up before people will accept this?

This town needed a big aquatic leisure center years ago! Build it and they will come from all directions, not just residents of Cochrane, but also the surrounding area. Pretty pathetic that many of us still have to swim laps outside of Cochrane due to such small windows of accessibility. I guess the mayor, and some councillors prefer we all continue spending gas money here, then driving to Airdrie and Calgary to use their facilities instead. Our piddly pool doesn't even come close to accommodating the high volume of swimmers and clubs that an aquatic center with a real lane pool would.

Now I read $15,000 is being wasted on finding out how we compare in the region? Seriously?

Anyone who climbs out of the valley once in awhile can answer that.
