Saying thank you and a heartfelt goodbye

Dear editor:

In response to my friend Warren’s (Harbeck) recent columns, I would like to express my gratitude for his wisdom and inspiration.

It has been a difficult time, but kindness does ease the sorrow. I take comfort in the words offered through his friends and expressions of support from our friends, family, colleagues and the community.

It is my hope that you will print this letter as one way to express our appreciation for the compassion shown by various people and organizations.

Thank you to Tsuu Tina/Stoney Corrections and GARDA Security for their contributions to the wake services; to Miranda Chiitze, John Reilly, Delia Poucette and Kandace Kootenay for their immediate responses and contributions. Thank you as well to Mr. Gerald Powderface and his family and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wesley-Beaver for their services; they serve a special purpose in our community. Finally, thank you to my friend, Georgina Henderson, for her support, Laurie Wallace for her wonderful tribute to my daughter, Kim, and to Mandrick Snow for his moving tribute to his brother, my grandson, Mike.

My daughter and my grandson lived lives that truly defined who they were; that I will cherish.

My daughter made a decision that we will try to understand. That said it must be stated that suicide is not an answer – it is final and it is devastating.

A person should seek help if ever they feel such despair.
