The man accused of murdering Stoney man Kori Wesley will be back in court this fall more than a year after the incident.

Tylen Tray Poucette, 20, from Morley, was charged with second-degree murder of Wesley last August. Wesley’s body was found at the Chiniki Rodeo grounds on Aug. 7.

Wesley’s mother and sister said police told the family Kori was stabbed approximately 20 times.

“My son was funny, he had a good sense of humour. He was loving,” Lori Wesley told the Cochrane Eagle last August.

Poucette has been denied bail and opted for a jury trial.

A 17-year-old from the Nation was also arrested in relation to the incident but cannot be identified due to age.

During the funeral last year, Wesley’s mother Lori said she was surprised by the turnout of people who came to say goodbye to her son.

“The church was packed, there were even people standing outside and we ran out of programs, which I think says something,” Lori said.

Poucette will appear in Calgary Provincial Court for a pretrial conference in September more than a year after Wesley’s death.

Fatal domestic assault trial continues this November

A second-degree murder case involving a fatal domestic dispute will be back in court in Cochrane later this year.

Vanessa Poucette, 47, from Morley was arrested and charged with the second-degree murder of Brennon Riley Twoyoungmen on Oct. 1, 2016 after Cochrane RCMP responded to reports of a stabbing.

Twoyoungmen was found dead outside the house.

RCMP Major Crimes South Unit members took over the investigation with assistance from Cochrane RCMP.

Poucette initially appeared in court in Nov. 3, 2016. Almost one year later, she will be back in Cochrane Provincial Court on Nov. 2.
