Hundreds of people flocked to the Cochrane Lions Event Centre to celebrate the launch of Air 91.5 FM, the first radio station in town history.
There was food, beverages and balloons. Attendees were treated to a performance from Juno and CCMA award winning band Doc Walker. A sought after trip to Las Vegas was won by a member of the crowd.
The station will be sharing the same radio signal with Airdrie's 106.1 FM and was given the go-ahead by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to receive official radio status back in December of 2018.
Country radio station 91.5 FM will broadcast to Cochrane and surrounding areas, including Bragg Creek, Redwood Meadows, Springbank, Bearspaw and Water Valley.
The station will be supported by Cochrane Now, the company's online platform - just as Discover Airdrie is the online platform to 106.1 FM.
