Who doesn’t love dogs?

Maybe that’s a loaded question, but regardless, those who love the canines in our lives are invited to the Calgary Kennel and Obedience Club Dog Show running from May 15-18 at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

“Anyone that loves dogs will see over a hundred breeds, at their best,” said show secretary and club president Della Kyncl.

The show will feature a wide range of competitions from conformation, obedience, to rally obedience and scent hurdling.

“If anyone is interested in finding out about a certain dog breed, this is an excellent place to do this. Breeders and exhibitors are open to the public asking questions, petting dogs and helping make everyone feel welcome,” Kyncl said.

For this year’s event, the show will feature a zone 10 competition for the junior handlers. Youth members competing will vie for top honors in Alberta. Sunday features a Pajama Romp, where the exhibitors wear their pajamas into the ring to compete.

“The competitors are friendly, helpful to each other and competitive in the ring. The spectators have their favorites and cheer on the dog they want to win.”

Kyncl said the event represents the culmination of years of hard work training and socializing. “All of us are dog breeders, show, hunt, trial and love dogs. So this is a life-long passion for each and every one of us.”

Organizers are asking visitors to not bring their family dogs.
