The Amaryllis Yoga Studio came in first place in the Eagle’s ‘Best of Cochrane’ contest for ‘Best Yoga/Pilates Instruction’.

Owner/instructor Sarah Clark has been bringing the heat for five years as the biggest local hot yoga studio that also offers non-hot, warm yin, kids and family yoga and workshops.

“It’s just really awesome to watch the growth in this town and how much the people here love to try something different,” said the yogi, adding the open-minded clientele at the studio have been the driving force behind her decision to branch out — offering alternative classes, private classes with discounted pricing and a variety of workshops.

“I’m really committed to bringing in some great workshops…ones that strongly resonate with me, personally,” explained Clark, adding that many of the instructors she brings in travel long distances to arrive at Amaryllis.

Since relocating the studio on June 1, 2013 from #2-104 Railway Street East to 346 Railway Street West, Clark said the additional space with a second studio has enabled an expanded assortment of workshops, but also to offer more non-hot alternatives — including warm yin, kids and family yoga, prenatal and private options, ideal for corporate team building and sports teams.

“There’s so much more to yoga to explore than just the physical,” said Clark, adding that the second studio offers opportunity for yogis of all ages and stages to explore the spiritual side of the ancient practice.

Some of the upcoming workshops include a ‘Medical Qi Gong’ workshop June 21 from 2-4 p.m.; an ‘Acro Yoga’ workshop will take place July 15 from 2-5 p.m. and this July and August, yogis can take part in drop-in sessions for ‘Yoga in the Park’ every Saturday at Mitford Park for $10 a class.

Also upcoming for the summer season are kids yoga and art camps.

Advance registration for workshops is needed. To view upcoming classes or to check out the daily drop-in schedule, visit amarylliscentre.com.
