There will be a lot of tricks and treats to be had at the annual Goblin Gathering this Halloween at the Cochrane RancheHouse.

“You have entertainment and fun at the RancheHouse and then you can still stop at a few houses for trick-or-treating on your way home,” said Deb Maxwell, Town of Cochrane recreational programmer.

The event is put on by the town and will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. The event is for ages six and under and has a cost of $7.50 to attend.

There will be hotdogs provided for the little ones and Maxwell said they do ask that parents register their children beforehand by calling 403-851-2534.

Maxwell said there would be a special entertainer beginning at 4:15 p.m., with magic and tricks.

From there, everyone is invited into the ballroom where kids can go around to different stations that have games, crafts, art, balloons and, of course, candy.

Typically there are over 150 kids who register for the event, according to Maxwell, who pointed out that the Goblin Gathering has been growing a lot in the past few years.

“It actually started over 20 years ago and used to be held at the community hall every year on the day of Halloween,” said Maxwell, pointing out that the community hall was where the Cochrane Family and Community Support Services centre is now located.

They eventually moved it to the RancheHouse into the Chinook Dining Room, and when that became too small, Maxwell said they moved it to the other half of the RancheHouse where they could utilize the theatre and ballroom.
