Three people have been arrested and will be charged with first-degree murder following the recent discovery of former Cochranite Ryan Lane’s remains.

Tim Rempel was arrested in Grande Prairie on Nov. 28, a day before the apprehension of Sheena and Will Rempel at a residence in Airdrie.

Lane had been missing since February 2012 and was last seen near the 5200 block of Country Hills Boulevard N.W. in Calgary. During a media appearance last week, Lane’s parents, said they believed their son was murdered during the first night he visited his daughter. Police have confirmed that there is no connection with this case and the remains found near Cochrane Oct. 13 on Range Road 252.

Lane’s parents also clarified that their son was granted visitation rights to see his daughter by the courts, and there was no battle for custody.

Because the arrests of the three suspects were made outside the City of Calgary, RCMP assisted with the operation.
