“Oh, wow, we're a big family, ” laughs Angela Arsenault, mom to Cochrane's first baby of 2018 - Julia Elizabeth Arsenault McMillan.
Born at Foothills Hospital in Calgary at 7:16 p.m. on Jan. 1 weighing seven pounds, 14 ounces and measuring 21 inches in length, Julia is the fourth child and a welcomed “caboose ” to the McMillan family.
“I was surprised because you already have to handle us, ” said 10-year-old sister, Emilie, of her reaction to finding out she was about to become a sister again, and no longer the only girl in the family to take on brothers, Rhys, 8, and, Liam, 12.
“I just got so excited, ” said Rhys, holding his little sister and grinning ear-to-ear.
Proud papa, Dwayne, a Calgary firefighter, handles his newest bundle with the ease of a four-time parent, as he and his wife agreed that an even number of children was a consensus they reached together.
Angela, a Grade 6 teacher at Manachaban Middle School, said although tired, she and Julia - who arrived more than two weeks ahead of her Jan. 16 due date - are resting well and adjusting to becoming a family of six.
