A British Columbian man is now facing several charges after an Aug. 11 crash killed an Invermere couple in their 70s and injured two more near Morley.

Christopher Raymond Boucha, 50, of New Westminster, B.C., is charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death, two counts of criminal negligence causing death, two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

Cochrane RCMP announced the new charges in a statement issued Tuesday, Dec. 14.

RCMP's initial investigation found a cube van travelling east on the Trans-Canada Highway veered into the west lane, colliding with a semi-trailer truck after it crossed the median, just east of Morley Road.

A white car was involved in the crash. The couple, a 75- and 78-year-old, were declared dead on scene, police said.

A van travelling west also struck the semi-trailer truck. The driver of the truck, a 55-year-old man from Calgary, and the two occupants of the van, a 50-year-old from Sherwood Park and the 27-year-old occupant, were sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic was delayed for around nine hours as police investigated the crash with the aid of RCMP collision analysts and Stoney Nakoda RCMP.

Anyone with additional information regarding the incident from this summer is urged to contact Cochrane RCMP at 403-932-2211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
