The Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area is seeking wannabe pop stars for its upcoming talent show. The club is asking teen musicians and singers to audition at the casting call.
Teens who want to participate as a musician or singer must register by April 1 and need to sign up at the local club’s Youth Centre.
All skill levels are encouraged to register for the free talent show/competition for any Cochrane and area teens between the ages of 13 and 17 years old, solo acts or bands are welcome. According to the poster for the event, “We took a pol l… the poll results said that you should come to this event. Polls don’t lie.”
The talent show, also known as the “exhibition of WOOAH,” will have judges evaluating performances based on three different categories;
Most Creative Act: judged on creativity with song selection, performance or adaptation of cover.
Catchiest Tune: judged by how the song itself makes “the judges remember the performance.”
:Wooah!: judged on the overall awesome level of performance and quality of “awesomeness presented.”
Winners of each category will also receive a prize. The winner of Most Creative Act receives two passes to the Cochrane Movie House; winner of the ‘Catchiest Tune’ will receive one hour of free recording, editing and digital download track; and the winner of Wooah! will receive three hours of free recording, editing and digital download track(s).
The competition is April 8 and doors open at 2 p.m. Performances will take stage from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend free of cost, although canned goods for the Cochrane Food Bank will be accepted during the show.
