Cochrane donair and shawarma lovers have likely detoured from their offices to grab a Mediterranean specialty wrap at 11-year-running Donair on the Run, located at 407 First Street West.
It’s just as likely that this said lunch crowd has met the likes of shop owner Camille Elain, whose big smile and friendly service begin before the front doors open.
This level of customer service, combined with fresh food, flavoured with a wide variety of fresh toppings and sauces and finished with speedy delivery may have something to do with the food joint’s recent number one ranking on online info site Buzzfeed’s ‘23 of the most delicious cheap eats in Canada’.
“It’s the love we put into our food,” laughed Elain, who is hard at work serving up grub in his establishment six days a weeks (closed Sundays), who admits that he heard about the first place ranking (which featured nosh from coast to coast) from his customers last week.
“I love Cochrane, it’s been such a great community and our customers are super supportive,” said the husband and father of two, who also credited his friendly, hardworking staff for adding to his recipe for success.
Elain has plans to remain in the same location, but renovate his space later this year.
