The Bethany Family Council will be hosting their first Bethany Fall Family Fair Sept. 13 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The goal is to raise enough money from the event proceeds to purchase three blanket warmers for the long-term care residents at the Bethany Care Centre; the centre has three wards, each with approximately 25 residents in the long-term care side for a total of roughly 75 people.

The long-term care is separate from the assisted living area of the facility.

“Our purpose is to try and improve the lifestyle and general well-being of the people living in long-term care,” explained council member Pat Graham.

“We’re a forum to put residents in touch with staff and administration,” she added, explaining that the council was rejuvenated last winter and exists to “make life just a little more livable for those at the Bethany”.

The fair will offer a range of family-fun activities, including a bouncy castle, a wheelchair push-a-thon, a balloon dunk, lawn archery and more.

Tickets will be sold at the event and used to participate in the games.

Hot food will be on the grill and silent auction items will be up for bid.

Local businesses and individuals who wish to donate items for the silent auction are encouraged to drop their items off at the centre front desk at 302 Quigley Drive or to phone the centre and speak to Cora at 403-932-6422.

“We are always looking for volunteers,” said Graham. “You don’t have to be involved with the Bethany to come to the fair — everyone is welcome to attend.”
