The annual Big Hill Lodge Christmas light judging competition is fast approaching.

On Dec. 17, a bus filled with some 15-plus Big Hill Lodge residents will make its way around lit-up areas of Cochrane between 6:30-8 p.m., picking out the top three picks for best dressed abodes.

“The lights are beautiful,” said Bunty Longuet, Big Hill resident for three years who loves the annual wintery outing. “It’s very hard to choose which houses are the best...we really enjoy the trip.”

Longuet said the outing is a great chance to socialize with friends while enjoying the Christmas spirit at the same time. Kim Mclure, Big Hill Lodge activity coordinator said this is a very popular event for residents, enjoyed year after year.

“The sign-up sheet fills up very fast,” she laughed.

The top three houses will be selected on the evening of Dec. 17, so those who believe their shack will be a likely candidate shouldn’t be surprised to hear a knock on their door presenting them with a Big Hill certificate of recognition for their seasonal efforts.

Stay tuned for photos of the winning houses in the Dec. 26 edition of the Cochrane Eagle.
