Banff-Airdrie MP wins award third year in a row.

Blake Richards has been named the 2016 Hardest Working MP, which he also won in 2014 and 2015, in addition to being named Best Constituency MP – both nominations from a survey conducted by Forum Research Inc. for The Hills Times, a federal politics weekly newspaper.

“It is always nice for hard work to be recognized but that is not why I do this job, I want to do the best job I can do for the riding and constituents,” Richards said.

Richards was first elected in 2008, and re-elected for a third time in the new riding of Banff-Airdrie last October. Richards currently serves as the Official opposition critic for Tourism and deputy critic for Democratic Institutions.

While serving on the government side of the House of Commons, Richards is frequently called upon to represent the government in national media, in addition to chairing two standing policy committees. Richards was also chair of the Parliamentary Tourism Caucus and received a Canadian Tourism Award for his work in Parliament on behalf of the tourism industry last year.

“It takes a team of people and I am fortunate enough to have a great team in office and volunteers,” Richards said. “It takes a great team and I can’t thank them enough.”
