Spring is in the air and that means the annual Cochrane and Area Humane Society’s (CAHS) Used Book Sale is around the corner. So, dust off those bookshelves and head down to the local shelter April 12 and 13 to grow your book collection and support the animals.
“The (spring) book sale is a tradition at our shelter,” said Cheryl Wallach, spokesperson for the CAHS. “We take donations of good quality, used books and the proceeds from their sales go to care for the animals.”
The sale will feature a variety of genres, including children’s books, cookbooks, biographies and novels. A selection of movies and CDs will also be available. Everything will be priced between $1 and $5, added Wallach.
“The shelter will be open,” warned Wallach, “so people may be going home with something more than a book.”
The last book sale raised about $3,000 — which is also the fundraising goal for this book sale, Wallach added. The money will cover the cost of feeding and homing the animals awaiting forever homes.
The book sale will run from 12-5 p.m. on both April 12-13 at the CAHS’s location at 62 Griffin Industrial Pt.
The shelter will be accepting gently used book donations at the shelter after April 1. For more information on the book sale or to donate used books, dial 403-932-2072 or visit cochranehumane.ca.
