Bow Valley High gives back time

Bow Valley High students are donating their time next week while raising awareness for Cochrane’s Family and Community Support Services.

As part of the school’s annual Time for Hope, organizers are hopeful to get the whole school together for this year’s theme of giving back time by volunteering around Cochrane while telling the community about the supports and services offered by FCSS.

“We want to go into the community and give back a day of service … our time is a gift,” said Tyler Bielert, student organizer.

Last year the fundraiser raised $14,000, which was split between the Lindsay Leigh Kimmett Memorial Foundation and relief for Fort McMurray fire survivors.

Students will be available for yard work, window washing, cleaning and other various jobs next Friday and while the volunteers are not expected to be paid for the day jobs, they are inviting the community to the fundraising gala that evening, complete with a barbecue and live entertainment.

Time for Hope takes place on May 5 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. with the family-friendly fundraising event to start at 5 p.m. at the school.
