Following a well-attended first community meeting on the potential neighbourhood plan at the existing gravel pit, Burnswest has produced an official summary of its key findings, based on feedback and is seeking community input to name the future community.

“We want to ensure the name chosen sounds great and is one that residents can be proud to call home for decades to come. If you would like to provide your input, you can complete a quick three question survey,” said Veronica Kennedy, project spokesperson.

The link to the survey can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/98MNW69.

Anyone who takes the time to enter the survey will be entered into a draw for a $50 gift certificate to My Greek Plate.

“Community engagement will be ongoing throughout the entire process. We anticipate having at least one additional open house prior to final review by the Town of Cochrane to gather community feedback on our preferred concept.”

Those who attended the first community meeting expressed a mix of intrigue and concern, crowned by worries over how this development plans to mitigate added traffic pressures.

Kennedy noted other feedback highlights included an identified need for affordable and seniors housing; a height restriction of four storeys; and that the development would address traffic issues including site access.

The feedback summary can be viewed at rocklandpark.ca.
