Tim Davidson wants to promote Cochrane’s historical downtown using social media.

The Heritage House Coffee Co. business owner is developing a one-minute video showcasing Cochrane’s historical main street bringing it back to the 1900s.

“If it’s presented well, it will bring people to our community to experience what we take for granted every day, a sense of hospitality and pride in our past,” Davidson stated in an email.

Inspired by a Heritage Park promotional video, the one-minute video for Cochrane will be shot on Main Street following a young boy and girl meeting throughout the downtown stores. The video will follow historical accuracies by removing all the modern vehicles and using horse-drawn wagons and old cars instead. Actors will wear period clothing, and the streets will feature a western façade, teepee villages, horses, and art society displays.

“I want to keep downtown thriving,” Davidson said.

“People will realize Cochrane has ‘it.’ No other town has what we have … the uniqueness of Cochrane Main Street is that it easily could be a living active Western Town honouring our heritage.”

Shooting for the video will take place on June 12 from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., with organizers still deciding if they need to put the call out for volunteers.

“More details will come closer to the date,” Davidson said.

Once the video is shot and edited, Davidson said he wants to promote the video (and town) by sharing it on the various social media sites.

“Go big or go home,” Davidson said with a laugh.

In an initial email sent out to other downtown business owners, Davidson expressed that as a business owner on Main Street he is not willing to just “sit and wait for (downtown) to die.”

“We know what works on Main Street and we should be the one’s controlling the destiny,” Davidsons said in the email.

The business owner assures none of the funding for the video will come from taxpayers, instead he is paying for the majority of the video out of his own pocket.

“We take our way of life for granted while the world envies our scenery and way of life,” Davidson said.
