The layout of the community and the focus on the success of the Quarry has resulted in a perceived rift between our growing business community and our Historic Downtown businesses. How will you, as a mayor or councillor, foster a business community that is more cohesive?

Shopping locally is imperative to the health of our town. For years our residents had to travel to Calgary for certain shopping options, today that is not the case. I have been and will continue to be a mayor that listens first and foremost.

All the recent work done in our Historic downtown with the art, entrance features, benches and trees was as a result of hearing the concerns from the owners and working to support and beautify the core. I absolutely believe a strong Historic Downtown core is essential to any community and ours is wonderful and inviting. In addition to supporting the Historic downtown I worked with some of the bigger retailers that located to the Quarry area who provide different shopping options than we had in previous years. A complete community provides options for all and by keeping people in town both areas can prosper.

Cochrane residents now have no need to rely on the big city for anything. Between the larger stores located in the Quarry to the unique, special stores in our Historic Downtown, we are a community with options for all.

I will continue to promote Cochrane as the place to live, work and play and supporting businesses in our community regardless of their location is a very important part of what I must do as your mayor.
