The layout of the community and the focus on the success of the Quarry has resulted in a perceived rift between our growing business community and our Historic Downtown businesses. How will you, as a mayor or councillor, foster a business community that is more cohesive?

In order to foster a business community that is more cohesive I would strongly recommend that a committee be formed with members from the following:

Historic Downtown business owners (2), Chamber Board of Directors (2) , Store front business owners (2), Commercial/ Industrial business owner (2), Home based business (2), Economic Development ( 1), Community Futures (1), Cochrane Tourism (1), Town Councillor (1). This committee would have outlined a terms of reference for the purpose of the committee. The committee would meet four times a year. The committee would be part of a strategic planning session outlining their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The committee would then move forward with ideas and plans of how they see the business community of Cochrane working together in the future, to promote the Cochrane business community as a whole.
