Can't stop won't stop

The Town of Cochrane’s summer camps will be hosted at the RancheHouse this season in light of the renovation taking place at the town’s ClubHouse.

The ClubHouse located at the Historic Ranche Site, normally hosts the Club House Kids Camps for youth ages 6 to 11.

“The Club House Kids Camps will be in the RancheHouse Theatre Monday to Friday, and we’ll still do our excursions into town and we’ll still walk to the ranch to do our campfires,” said Deb Maxwell, recreation programmer with the town.

Maxwell said this will be more convenient for parents who have children in the Club House Kids Camp and the Sunshine Capers Camp or the Art & Drama Summer Camps as the latter two are already hosted at the RancheHouse.

“We couldn’t start the construction on the ClubHouse any sooner so the goal would have been to be finished and start camps there in July. But now that it’s not ready we have an equally good plan B,” Maxwell said.

The renovation is making necessary upgrades to the facility, which was built in the 1960s. The project started in April and once it is concluded, the town will be able to use the facility to schedule year-round programming,

“The whole idea of the layout inside is to just to maximize program space. Also the building needed upgrading so that things are more efficient and maintenance-free,” Maxwell explained.

Maxwell said so far the renovation is on schedule but the town is unsure when it will conclude. It’s not too late for parents to register their children for the town’s upcoming camps.
