Celebrate National Child Day

The Town of Cochrane’s Parent Link Centre is joining a global initiative to celebrate National Child Day on Nov. 20.

The Town of Cochrane’s Parent Link Centre is joining a global initiative to celebrate National Child Day on Nov. 20. The event is celebrated by countries around the world as a reminder of a shared commitment to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Cochrane’s Parent Link Centre and Recreation are teaming up with Cinnamon Bear and the Fun Van to celebrate National Child Day in Cochrane.

The group will be touring Cochrane handing out goodies, information and increasing community awareness of the importance of early childhood development. Stops on Cochrane’s National Child Day tour include the Parent Link Centre, Big Hill Leisure Pool, Nan Boothby Memorial Library, Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre and a special visit to the RancheHouse.

To show your support for National Child Day, organizers are asking you to consider wearing blue Nov. 20.

Many children in Alberta, even Cochrane, do not have the basic necessities such as affordable housing, food security and quality childcare. As a community, Cochranites can have the most direct, positive impact on the lives of children.

Organizers believe National Child Day is an opportunity to engage the community as a whole about these issues and their implications.
