Charges laid after last week's RCMP pursuit

Man charged after last week's dangerous pursuit.

Marcus Allen Robert Williams has been charged following a police pursuit that occurred on Aug.1.

Cochrane RCMP received a report of a motorist being nearly struck by another motorist driving dangerously near Morley, Alberta. Shortly afterward, the same vehicle nearly struck RCMP members operating marked police vehicles.

A traffic stop was initiated and the suspect vehicle failed to stop for police.  The suspect vehicle was driven in a manner that was exceedingly dangerous to the public and therefore pursued.

The 28-year-old Calgary man has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired (drugs)
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Theft, Forgery, Misuse of Credit Card
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Fail to Appear X2
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
William will remain in custody until his first court appearance on Aug. 6 in Cochrane Provincial Court.
