Cochrane has been gathering goblins for close to 30 years. The annual Goblin Gathering hosted by the town is inviting families and their little ghouls for a not-too-spooky party at the Cochrane Ranchehouse.

“It’s a perfect event to do with your whole family,” says Deb Maxwell, town recreation programmer.

Little monsters and their families are welcome to come for an afternoon of games, crafts, entertainment, and tricks and treats. Maxwell said the timing is perfect because it does not interfere with evening trick-or-treating.

“Years past, it was a party at the community hall and locals would go before trick or treating – (we) are keeping the tradition going,” Maxwell says. “It’s a great family party (especially) for little kids, it’s not super spooky.”

Parents and older children are also encouraged to dress up along with the little ones. Maxwell said they have had years where the whole family has shown up dressed in themed costumes, such as Star Wars characters.

“We do not judge for best costumes any more – it’s too hard,” Maxwell laughs. “(Guests) can enter to win other prizes in other games.

“I think (it) will go very well – it’s a nice afternoon thing to do.”

The annual Goblin Gathering will be hosted at the Cochrane Ranchehouse on Oct. 31 from 2-4 p.m.

Tickets are $7.50 for children ages 6 and under. Tickets can be bought through cochrane.ca/eservices or call 403-851-2534 for more information.
