The Cochrane Art Club (CAC) is focusing on the small things this season with its annual Small Works Art Sale.
The sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Cochrane Alliance Church from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and will feature fine art originals, miniatures, art prints and art cards.
“It is about fine art in a variety of pricing that will accommodate anyone’s budget,” said A.J. Pearson with CAC, pointing out that you can pick up an original piece of art for under $100.
“We wanted to have affordable original art pieces, where anybody could start to be a collector. That is why it is small works,” she said.
Pearson said that there would be every medium of two-dimensional work, including oil, acrylic, watercolour, pen and ink, coloured pencil and more.
She said that the artists from CAC would be there throughout the day to talk about their work and answer questions.
Pearson said that last year the event was cancelled for the first time due to weather conditions. This year, Pearson assured they were prepared to have the sale no matter what the weather would be like.
CAC has been around for 56 years, according to Pearson, who also mentioned that the club of over 40 members still has some spots available for those wanting to join.
Pearson said that no experience is necessary to join CAC and they have members at all levels from beginner to professional artists.
Although the majority of members are from Cochrane and area, Pearson said that they also have members from Sundre, Carstairs, the Airdrie area and Strathmore.
Admission to the event is free, but non-perishable food donations will be accepted for the local food bank.
Light refreshments will also be available.
