Cochrane Art Club's 65th Annual Fine Art Show and Sale set for May 4 and 5

The Cochrane Art Club's 65th annual Fine Art Show and Sale is set to take place at the RancheHouse on May 4 and 5.

The Cochrane Art Club’s finest works is returning to the Cochrane RancheHouse for their 65th Annual Fine Art Show and Sale on May 4 and 5.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., art enthusiasts can visit the gallery and examine the various art pieces on display, free of charge.

Current president for the Cochrane Art Club, Annabelle Denson, said that their year’s gallery will celebrate their 65th anniversary in the community with a few special exhibits, a door prize of original artwork, and snacks for guests.

“We’re going to have a small exhibit within the show called – 'Go Big,' and that’s going to be some really large pieces of work exhibited on individual easels as opposed to our grid walls that we generally use for smaller pieces,” Denson said. “We’re going to have local musicians playing at the venue, so we’re excited to be showcasing some local music talent as well.”

Denson said she looks forward to seeing the number of members who are interested in showcasing their work at this year’s gallery.

“If we get 25 or 28 members participating, that’ll be the highest number of participants we’ve had in a while.” She said. “The other thing is the that the quality of the work that our members produce is improving every year. So, the work in the show is really top notch, and we have a wide variety of mediums and styles that they paint in different subject matter.”

With a wide range of subject materials from Cochrane’s natural beauty, to stills and portraits, Denson said all the art styles are highlighted at the show. She hopes that locals take the time to stop by and appreciate their latest creations.

“We often get around 900 visitors over the weekend, so we’re very keen on keeping track of how many people come in the door, and we like to greet everybody individually and welcome them to our venue,” she said.

Denson said the Cochrane Art Club would like to give a special thanks to organizations that help fund their programs, and their sponsors.

“I think that the Cochrane Art Club May Show has really become sort of a foundational cultural event in Cochrane, and people are looking forward to it every year,” Denson said. “I think that we feel some obligation to the community to make sure that it’s a good event that they’ve waited for all year, and we’re thrilled to have them enjoy and buy our art.

“It’s such an exciting event for the club.”
