Nominees for this year’s Cochrane Community Awards have been announced, and the list is full of recognizable names.

Nominations have been open since February and closed April 10, with 28 local organizations and individuals being nominated in various categories, including: business of the year, employer of the year, community builder of the year, ambassador of the year, citizen of the year, senior of the year, education in action, volunteer group of the year, pathfinder of the year, youth of the year, newsmaker of the year and the mayor and council’s order of Cochrane.

The 2015 nominees are:

Nominees are not told which category they have been nominated for and find out only during the event itself, which this year will be emceed by Global Calgary host Amber Schinkel.

Tickets to the awards ceremony will be available until May 16 and are available at Canadian Tire and Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre, with the event taking place at the Cochrane RancheHouse May 24 from 2-4 p.m.
