Athletes of the Cochrane Endurance Project (CEP) put their best feet forward in the final Athletics Alberta track and field competitions at provincials at Foothills Stadium in Calgary, July 8 to 10, returning with 11 medals.

“The club had some ups, downs, some tough lessons learned, and some outstanding performances amongst all of it to show,” said CEP coach Travis Cummings.

This was the CEP’s second year competing at this meet. Sixteen athletes participated, compared to nine last year.

“It has been a great season and this was a great way for most of our athletes to end the season,” Cummings said.

Clay Grattidge won silver medals in both the U18 800-metre steeplechase and 2,000-metre steeplechase.

Raimo Sollitt earned his first solo gold medal in provincials since joining the club in the spring.

Ranked second going into the meet, Sollitt came home with gold in the  U16 1,500 metre steeplechase and clocked a personal best 5:09.29.

Holly Moores continued her rise with a gold in the U20 women's 1,500 metres. She also won silver in the U20 women's 800 metres.

Moores also teamed up with Sarah Beer, Csenia Irvin, and Aggie Baker to win silver in the women's U20 4x100 metre relay, and Sophia Nowicki, Irvin, Baker, and Jessica Kaiser won silver in the women's senior 4x400 metres relay. Nowicki also won silver in the senior women's 1,500 metres.

Taking home bronze medals were Ellie Barlow in her second-ever U16 girls steeplechase, and Caden Jones in the U18 Boys 2,000 metres steeplechase and also in triple jump.

Jones and Sollitt still have one more competition left as they will be representing CEP on Team Alberta at the Tri Provincial Prairie Championship as they were selected from the qualifying meet last month.
