Cochrane Generals win first game at provincial junior B tournament

The Cochrane Generals have won their first game in the Junior B Provincial championships, which are being played this week in Wainwright.

The Generals downed the Fort St. John Huskies 5-4 March 31 to open the tournament. The game started out with a big hit on Gen’s centre, Kyle Crosbie, midway through the first period.

The Generals got their revenge on the scoreboard, when the team's scoring leader, Patrick Forde, netted the tie-breaking goal with two-and-a-half minutes left in the third period.

Tomorrow the Generals will take on the St. Paul Canadiens at 7 p.m. and the Beaumont Chiefs on April 2 at 9:30 a.m.

The semi-final games start April 2 at 8 p.m. The bronze medal game is on April 3 at 10:30 a.m. and the championship game gets underway at 2 p.m.
