The Cochrane Glee Club will be spreading Holiday cheer in Cochrane with their random acts of caroling event Dec. 16.

The club will be in the community of Riverview starting at 6 p.m. going from door to door singing carols maintaining the long standing Holiday tradition, but will be a first for the newly-formed club.

“We’re going to go in a big group and share some Christmas glee,” said Shelley Steele-Gittel, the director of the group.

Steele-Gittel said that the kids came up with the idea of caroling and that she and Brenda Koob, who also helps with the club, thought it fit well with the idea behind the club.

“We’re trying to be ambassadors for Cochrane and I think this would be a good way to get out there and do something that is good for the community,” she said.

As part of being ambassadors, the club has performed at a Town of Cochrane council meeting, at Cochrane Light Up and will be at the Cochrane Santa Claus Parade and the Last Minute Christmas Market.

“If there are events in the community where people would like us to appear, we would love to do that. They can just give me a call and we’ll show up,” said Steele-Gittel.

The group, which includes kids between the ages of five to 12, has been gaining popularity since it started earlier this year.

Steele-Gittel said they do have a few spots left if kids are interested in joining and there is no audition required. For more information contact Steele-Gittel at 403-467-8375 or [email protected].
