Helping Hands Food Drive

The Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area is moving ahead with its Food Drive in support of the Cochrane Activettes’ Food Bank. On May 15, volunteers from the Helping Hands Society will be in West Valley, West Terrace, West Pointe, Heartland, Heritage Hills, Bow Meadows, Bow Ridge and Jumping Pound. The organization is asking that all donors leave their donations on their doorstep before 10 a.m. to avoid contact between residents and volunteers. The Helping Hands Society is also hosting its annual general meeting on May 20 at 12:15 p.m., and is asking everyone to register in advance by May 18. Supporting the LGBTQ2S+ community

The Kindred Cochrane Pride Society is hosting a free online workshop designed to increase participants knowledge and awareness of gender and sexual diversity, including the differences between sex, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation, as well as instruction on how to support and affirm LGBTQ2S+ youth. The workshop will also encourage participants to explore their own beliefs with regards to these topics through interactive activities.The workshop takes place on May 19 at 6 p.m. To register, visit the Kindred Cochrane Pride Society on Facebook.

Cochrane Pickleball Club

The Cochrane Pickleball Club has opened up its registration for 2021 and is offering existing members the opportunity to renew their memberships for the upcoming season, which runs from May 1 to September 30. The cost of an annual membership is $15, and goes toward supporting club initiatives and voting rights to elect board members, as well as skill and rating assessments, skill development, organized play and mentorship.
