Cochrane in Brief

Cochrane Cares Fun Run

Cochrane Cares is hosting a Halloween Fun Run and food donation drive on Oct. 31. Cochrane Cares is encouraging people to dress up in their Halloween costume, lace up their running shoes and participate in a run or walk in any location of their choosing. Once the run is complete, bring a food donation to the Mitford Park parking lot for the Cochrane Food Bank between 8:30 a.m. to noon. A representative will be on-site to collect donations on behalf of the Cochrane Food Bank.

Jacket Racket clothing drive

The Town of Cochrane is hosting its annual Jacket Racket clothing drive. Drop off your gently used clothing or Halloween costumes to the Boys and Girls Club, Cochrane Alliance Church, Family and Community Support Services, the Family Resource Network, the RancheHouse or Safeway from Oct. 5 to 18. Families will be able to pick up the clothing they need on Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cochrane Alliance Church. There are several COVID-19 safety precautions in place. Only 30 people will be allowed in at a time for 20-minute time slots, and there will be no snacks or beverages this year. The Town recommends only one member per family attends the event. Mask and hand sanitizer will be mandatory.

Cochrane and Area Hospice Society AGM

The Cochrane and Area Hospice Society will host its annual general meeting on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. Event space is limited this year but there will be a virtual link for others who wish to watch the proceedings online. COVID-19 health precautions will be in place and attendees are asked to wear a mask. Registration for the event is required ahead of time and can be made by sending an email to [email protected]/. Call 403-923-9698 for more information.
