Cochrane will be hosting its Terry Fox Run on Sept. 18 at Mitford Park.

Registration will open at 10 a.m. with the run starting at 11 a.m. Walkers, runners, cyclists, and pets are welcome to attend the event.

Participants can choose between the five kilometre and the 10 km run or they may run any distance in between. Participants must make a donation, which can be made the day of the event or collected in advance by registering at terryfox.org.

Organizer Lindsay Regier hopes to beat the town’s record-setting fundraising amount of $14,000 – set last year – despite the economic downturn.

“We had about 100 people participate last year and hope to see as many or more this year. The Terry Fox Run is nostalgic for most Canadians and something that we hold near and dear to our hearts. Many people are loyal supporters and Cochrane has been a strong supporter over the years - in fact, Cochrane was the 13th highest fundraiser in the province last year,” Regier said.

Regier said she is also looking for volunteers to help with registration, check-in and the water stop at the event. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Lindsay Regier through the event’s Facebook page Terry Fox Run 2016 – Cochrane.
