The federal election is now over and another four year term with Justin Trudeau as Canada's leader is our fate. Cochrane's Mayor Jeff Genung believes the Liberal minority government is unsettling.

"I'm concerned for our oil and gas sector," explains Genung "The uncertainty that it will bring to the Alberta economy."

With the majority of Alberta sticking to its true conservative roots, Blake Richards won his riding by a landslide. Genung is content that he won't have to establish any new relationships stating Richards has always been easy to deal with and readily available.

As for Cochrane and its position after the election, Genung says it is important to look at ways of diversifying the economy. This has already taken place at a local level with the focus targeted at the technology sector.

"I think it's going to be a longer road ahead to climb back to prosperity given the minority government." said Genung.
