If you're looking to escape the sound of pop music artists crooning holiday tunes on the radio, then stop by the Cochrane Alliance Church on Dec.11 and take in the warm tones of the 13th annual Music of Christmas concert.

If you're looking to escape the sound of pop music artists crooning holiday tunes on the radio, then stop by the Cochrane Alliance Church on Dec.11 and take in the warm tones of the 13th annual Music of Christmas concert.

Put on by the Cochrane Music Society and directed by Rob Billington, the concert will feature three musical groups: Choral Waves choir, Riverside Jazz and Band on the Bow.

"We're hoping to bring the audience some Christmas spirit, fun, entertainment - and we get to expose our local artists," said Jane Kaczmer, treasurer and board member with the organization. "Sure, you can go into Calgary to see high-level performers, but there's something special about hearing musicians from your community.

"The performances will give off a warm, deep sound. Just like you want to hear this time of year."

This year, Kaczmer said the audience can expect a few surprises at the annual event, including a pre-show performance by a woodwinds trio and a sing-along medley to wrap-up the show.
