Cochrane RCMP's holiday Checkstops in full swing

Cochrane RCMP, alongside the Cochrane Integrated Traffic Unit (ITU), continue to be busy with their Checkstop Program this holiday season.

A Dec.15 Checkstop detected and charged a single impaired driver, with an additional nine drivers being examined and charged between Dec. 8 and Dec. 18.

Forty vehicles were examined and two violation tickets were were issued over a Checkstop set up with Cochrane over the weekend of Dec. 15 and 16.

Four other drivers were detected and charged that same weekend by Cochrane RCMP.

The Checkstop Program will continue throughout the holiday season.

On Dec. 18, the Cochrane police were contacted regarding a vehicle swerving and travelling fast on the road.

The vehicle was halted along Highway 1 and a traffic stop performed by Cochrane ITU, detecting and charging a 19-year-old Morley man with impaired driving and other traffic offences.
