The next wave of laughter is set for June 21 at the Hideout Pub with Trent McClellan and opener Derek Sweet highlighting ‘Comedy Night’.

Tickets are $12 to the 8:30 p.m. show and $30 to the dinner and show, with dinner seating beginning at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available at 403-932-4441.

Yuk Yuk’s comic Derek Sweet will be bringing his brand of self-deprecating, raunchy funny to the pub — gauging on whether or not to stray from his one-year trial of ‘clean comedy’.

“Some nights I’m not as strict with myself as others,” said the Calgary comic, who is known for his ‘dark and insightful comedy…coupling his mockery with outrageous confessions’.

For Sweet, the license to spew his worldly observations is one that he uses on and off the stage.

“It’s not just on stage…you can get away with a lot more socially than other people do,” he laughed.

Headliner, Trent McClellan, whose list of festival appearances covers Just For Laughs, YYC Comedy Festival and everywhere in between, has been taking some much needed downtime over the last couple of weeks.

“I had a pretty crazy start to the year — just non-stop,” he said, adding that he’s entrenching himself in writing new material and testing it out at open mics and for different crowds.

The Newfoundland native who now calls Calgary home said he still enjoys playing the small clubs on occasion.

“That’s where you learn your craft — in those sink or die rooms where you’re trying to get people off the VLTs…As long as the crowd is facing forward and sober enough to hold their heads up, you’ve got a shot.”

Stand-up comic and booking agent Cory Harding of Buckets of Chuckles produces the monthly Hideout event.
