The Municipal District of Bighorn announced its Living in the Natural Environment event slated for the Cochrane RancheHouse on Feb. 4 was cancelled due to climbing COVID-19 cases.

COVID-19 has pulled the plug on the Municipal District of Bighorn's environmental event for the second consecutive year.

In a statement, the M.D. announced the Living in the Natural Environment event, which was slated to take place Feb. 4 at the Cochrane RancheHouse, would be cancelled once more.

This time, though, the rapid spread of highly transmissible Omicron variant was behind the decision.

In years past, the annual affair draws between 100-150 members of the community, government and non-agricultural residents to discuss a variety of topics.

Previous topics have included climate change, forest biodiversity and fire safety.
