Motorists are advised to take detours or anticipate traffic congestion on Highway 1A on Sept. 2.
The Tour of Alberta, professional cycling event, will be passing through Cochrane next Friday heading east on the highway, as cyclists will be travelling from Kananaskis to Olds.
Certain portions of the Highway will be closed throughout Cochrane from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to allow traffic to be cleared.
Organizers are anticipating traffic congestion before and after the event.
In preparation for annual ride, Rocky View Schools (RVS) will dismiss all students in the Cochrane, Bearspaw and Westbrook schools at noon on that day and bus student will be transported safely home without “prolonged travel times.”
